Who We Are

Riverport Business Club is a business networking club based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire. We are responsible for the personal information you give us through this website.

Information We Collect

We only collect personal information that you choose to give us, or that is needed to run the club. This includes:

Enquiries - when you use our contact form we receive your name, email address, phone number (if given) and your message.
Membership applications - when you apply to join we receive your name, business name, job title, business category, business address, phone numbers, business email address, who invited you and your typed signature.
Club members - with each member’s agreement, we publish business details such as the business name, contact name, photo, logo, phone number, email address, website and a description of their services on our Club Members pages.
Searches - when you use Try Riverport First, we keep a plain list of the words searched for so we can make sure visitors are shown the right members. Only the search words are kept - nothing that identifies you, such as your IP address - so please avoid typing personal details into the search box.
Emails and calls - if you contact us directly, we keep the details you share so we can reply.

We do not collect any special category information (such as health details) through this website, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Website Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics (opens in a new tab) to see how many people visit the site and which pages are most useful. Plausible was chosen because it is designed to respect your privacy:

it does not use cookies or store anything on your device
it does not collect or store personal information, and cannot identify you
it does not follow you across other websites or build a profile of you
all visitor data is aggregated - we only see totals such as page views, referring websites, country and device type
the data is stored on servers within the EU

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you give us to:

reply to your enquiry or arrange a visit as our guest
process your membership application and check your business category is available
run the club, including meeting arrangements, membership renewals and fees
show members’ business details on the website so visitors can find and contact them
keep the website secure and working properly

We will never sell your information, and we will not send you marketing you have not asked for.

Our Lawful Basis

We rely on the following lawful bases under the UK GDPR:

Legitimate interests - to reply to enquiries you send us and to run the club.
Contract - to process your membership application and, once accepted, to manage your membership.
Consent - to publish a member’s business details and photo on the website. Members can ask us to change or remove these at any time.

Who We Share It With

We only share your information where we need to, with:

club officers, such as the Club Chair, who handle enquiries and memberships
trusted service providers who help us run the website and our email, such as our website host and email provider, who may only use it to provide their service to us
anyone we are legally required to share it with

Information published on the Club Members pages is public, so it can be seen by anyone who visits the website.

How Long We Keep It

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the reasons above. Enquiries are kept for as long as it takes to deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards. Membership details are kept while you are a member and for as long as needed afterwards to meet our legal and accounting obligations. Members’ website profiles are removed when they leave the club.

Keeping It Secure

This website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, and messages sent through our forms are delivered directly by email. Access to personal information is limited to the people who need it to run the club. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.

Your Rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
ask us to delete your information
object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
